Discover the natural wonders of the state of Yucatan while learning the history of some the magnificent haciendas that hold such an important place in the story of this region. Built between the XVII Century and the first half of the XX Century, these larges estates are the product of the “henequen” era, a time of great economic boom due to the exportation of the sisal plant (hard fiber). Now converted into luxury hotels and restaurants, the Haciendas Yaxcopoil, Ochil and Vista Alegre allow visitors a glimpse into the past while enjoying the comforts of today. As well, visit the Kankirixché natural well and experience some of the great outdoors in this tropical climate.
Departs: 9:00 am.- Visit the museum in Hacienda Yaxcopoil, “The place of the Green Poplars” in the Mayan language. Continue on to the cenote Kankirixché, located in the municipality of Mukuyché. This is one of the larger cenotes in the region, measuring 438 m long and 53 m deep. Cenotes were places of sacrifice for the Mayan people and hold great historical and cultural significance for the people of the region. You will then have the opportunity to taste famous yucatecan cuisine and admire the local art found in the studios within Hacienda Ochil. For those who would like to escape the heat for a while, time is set a side for visitors to enjoy a swim. Finally, the tour will finish with a visit to Hacienda Vista Alegre, where regional liquors are produced. Try local rum, a traditional alcohol called xtabentún, and many liquors made from exotic fruits. There is also an orchard with fruit trees, trees that hold medicinal properties, and trees that produce exports that are famous around the world.
